Arbuckle Mountains are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the U.S., extending over 300 square miles. They, together with the adjoining Ardmore Basin, constitute one of the most remarkable geologic exhibits in the country. Due to an ancient uplift and millions of years of erosion, there are exposed in this district stratified rocks aggregating over 30,000 feet in thickness. Starting at Ardmore and driving north into the mountains, one sees outcroppings at the surface, one after another, the same rocks that he would see if he could go straight down into the earth from five to seven miles within the city. Located in the Arbuckle Mountains on the beautiful lake of the Arbuckles, Goddard Youth Camp is located in the rugged hill country of south central Oklahoma. Among the beauty spots to explore and enjoy in this ancient mountain range are Turner Falls Park, with its lovely cavern and spring fed Blue Hole for swimming; Cedarvale Park, on Honey Creek; Price's Falls, four miles east over the Seven Sister Trail.
