Based on the values of her English upbringing, Maureen began a small real estate company over forty years ago. She brought a nurturing and caring style to the marketing of properties that was missing from the area, and quickly established her presence with her elegant yet assertive style when the Uniroyal tire plant was opened. Within a few short years and after hundreds of happy buyers and sellers, Ardmore's leading Realtor was blazing the way.
Maureen raised three small children while building the company, much of the time as a single parent. Coordinating all the family and real estate activities taught her the value of qualified and dependable assistance. Nearly thirty years ago, Maureen hired a full-time closing coordinator with responsibility for all the details behind the scenes for a seemingly effortless closing. Allowing the associates to focus on their jobs of marketing rather than title or legal matters frees them up to better list or sell your property; our closing coordinator offers a methodical tracking of your transaction's every aspect.
About that same time, a full-time relocation and referral manager was hired to deal with the specific details of our corporate clients. To maintain a consistent and dependable marketing plan, this manager also coordinates all advertising efforts for a professional and effective portrayal of your property.
Business grew as property values increased in the 1970s, and Maureen Realty survived the collapse of oil in the 80s, which hit Oklahoma very hard. The entire community learned about diversification after being so dependent on oil, and in the early 90s, the Ardmore Development Authority brought companies to expand our economy -- Dollar General and Best Buy to name a few. Property values grew again and new homes and projects are flourishing.
Chris Cowlbeck, Maureen's oldest son, joined the family business as a joint owner in 1990. Chris graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in construction management, which combined the worlds of business, architecture and engineering. Having worked as a project manager and property manager for the national developer Trammell Crow, he decided to return to small town values to raise his family. Whether it's development or commercial leasing, construction or remodeling, or tax-free exchanges to creative financing, he brings a world of experience and diversity to our Winning Team.
